How dTMS Treatment Works
Achieve TMS Central sites utilize Brainsway™ FDA approved H-Coil technology to provide deep TMS (dTMS) treatment. The H-coils send short electromagnetic pulses to the brain to stimulate the limbic system — the part of the brain responsible for depression, mood symptoms, and executive functioning.
TMS strengthens circuits in the prefrontal cortex thereby changing the chemistry and the electrical conduction of the neurons — providing long-term relief and remission of depression symptoms. This non-invasive depression therapy has minimal side effects for the treatment of major depressive disorders.
Here’s what you can expect during a standard treatment session:
- You’ll sit in a comfortable chair in a private room
- A TMS technician will place the Brainsway™ dTMS helmet on top of your head
- The TMS device delivers very short bursts of magnetic pulses, similar to an MRI
- Total treatment time is about 20-30 minutes
- Once done, you can drive yourself home or go back to work

One of America’s Leading Providers of Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or dTMS
What is Deep TMS Therapy?
Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) is a non-invasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression.Deep TMS technology is similar to what is used in MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging systems). dTMS is widely tested, participating in over 60 clinical trials worldwide with registered patents by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). The FDA has approved dTMS for the treatment of depression and OCD. FDA-approved depression and OCD treatments are administered by Certified Technicians.
Insurance Coverage for TMS
Insurance accepted for treating Depression, specifically TMS therapy, has more than doubled in the last few years, a sign that insurance companies must see cost savings in a treatment method for major depressive disorder (MDD) that works more efficiently than the traditional regimen alone. Patients who continually suffer from the debilitating effects of medication-resistant depression may acquire other health conditions as a result, such as a substance abuse disorder or unhealthy weight gain, to name a few. The fact that more and more insurance companies are providing coverage for TMS indicates a cost benefit to the insurer, thus the broadening of benefits.
